According to Traditional Chinese medicine, all disease begins with an imbalance in the Qi, or energy, in our bodies. In allergic reactions, the imbalance occurs when the Qi within our bodies is adversely affected by the Qi of external substances that we contact during normal activities.

Applied Resonance Therapy or ART defines 29 body energies and their resonant substances. Each energy is tested for harmony with an indicator substance using muscle checking. Treatment is accomplished by holding acupuncture points in specific patterns.

ART was developed by Lynn Abbott from her studies in Chinese medicine, Seneca philosophy and Applied Kinesiology. In addition to her private practice, she has taught many acupuncturists, chiropractors and massage therapists, who have incorporated it into their practices.
